Creative Breaks & Adventures on a Trail Bike

Mountain biking has been a great way to get in touch with nature, take creative breaks away from my usual routine, and build my physical fitness since June 2020.

Follow my adventures on Strava 😎

Chilling with a couple of riding buddies after the first half of a trail exploration trip at Kilimambogo, near the Ol Donyo Sabuk Wildlife Reserve in Kenya 📸
When I started riding in mid-2020, pushing the pedals was super fun, and tiring at the same time. On this ride in Kikuyu, Kenya, I had one of the group walkie-talkies so that I could contact the other riders in case I got lost 😅
Every time we’re on our bikes, I get closer to catching up with these guys, even if they keep getting faster sometimes 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️
The enduro bike races by Twiga Trails can be scary at times, but that’s where quick thinking and mental strength grow. Plus, I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie 😁
Four things keep me from getting badly hurt in a bike accident: elbow guards and knee guards, riding gloves, a secure helmet, and a lightweight bike that’s easy to handle on uneven terrain
Here’s my favorite trail bike — a forest green Giant Fathom 2. It’s lightweight enough to take me up the hills and heavy enough to keep me planted on the ground when I’m racing through the forest trails 🚲
Here’s a walking trail that’s used by plenty of walkers and cyclists 🌲
Karura Forest is a great place to cycle, since it’s safe, quiet and evergreen. You’ll also see plenty of monkeys peering at you through the trees 🐵
